Zombicide: Washington Z.C.

Expansion – Zombicide: 2nd Edition

Where were you when the invasion began?
We were in Washington, D.C. We were ordinary people living ordinary lives. Bricks in the wall who couldn’t imagine things were about to change. At first we heard some distant noise. People running from something in a hurry. Then, gunshots, explosions, and screams. The mayhem leading to the world’s fall, and our ultimate freedom, had begun. On that day, Washington, D.C. became Washington, Z.C., for “Zombie City”.
Let me tell you our story.

Washington Z.C. is a Zombicide experience like never before! This expansion features 6 new Survivors and a full campaign set in the White House and its surroundings. With advanced rules, the story unfolds throughout 10 missions, as new challenges and opportunities arise with each choice players make.

Explore the new game mechanics like survivors being able to keep their equipment from a mission to the next and watch as they unlock achievements, new powers, and reveal the next chapter of the adventure! Make crucial choices using Objective cards. Find top-notch Secret Service weapons and call upon the All-Out mechanic to unleash their true power at the risk of breaking them. The special clock token and night rules allow survivors to fight all night long keeping each other (and the President!) safe. What horrors will you discover in the presidential home?

A Zombicide: 2nd Edition core box is required to enjoy this expansion.

Washington Z.C. comes with 6 new survivors that can be used in the classic way, or using the expansion’s new game mechanics. You can play them as a full team, or mixed in any way you want with other survivors from the modern range.

The expansion also comes with 2 non-playing character miniatures, unveiled during the included Infected State campaign: Taylor, and the President (himself!).

Washington Z.C. features Advanced Equipment decks replacing Zombicide’s classic decks for Starting Equipment, Equipment, and Pimpweapons. They work just the same, with a couple additions:

(1) The All-Out value, using the new All-Out mechanics, allows the survivor to push their weapon beyond its limits. The special All-Out dice are rolled as extras: the “1” value has been replaced with a “Break” symbol. If these All-out dice rolls a Break (or more), the weapon is discarded right after the attack! Check the weapons characteristics, and use this brutal mode carefully: some weapons become savage when going All-Out.

(2) Some weapons feature a Keep value allowing the survivors to keep them from a game to the next. The more potent a weapon is, the higher the Keep value. Roll as many All-Out dice at the end of each game. The weapon is kept as long as no Break result is rolled.

Advanced Equipment cards, and the related new mechanics, can be used in any way you please during your classic Zombicide games.

Secret Service Equipment is found when performing the Search Action either in a Secret Service Zone, or in a Humvee. The Secret Service has access to the best technology and weapons, like Night Vision Goggles, the MP-5 submachine gun… and a Twinkie.

Washington Z.C. also contains 6 new, double-sided gaming tiles representing the White House. It’s time to find out about the numerous rumors surrounding the legendary building. Is there a real secret bunker? A big red button in the Oval Office? Is the food really for free?

The Clock token replaces the classic First Player Token, the Clock tracks the flow of time during the game, altering lines of sight and accuracy as the night falls upon the board.

Draw your melee weapon as the night comes! Luckily, Survivors can use light sources, like Flashlights, to see what’s going on and keep on shooting at zombies. Switch the light at the right time, though, as it marks your survivor as a target, and drive the zombies mad.

Washington Z.C.’s missions replace Objective tokens with Objective cards. Objective cards are revealed and read out loud upon being taken, driving your gaming group through tough choices having an influence on the ongoing mission, and sometimes upon the entire campaign itself.

Using the Keep rules for Equipment, the Objective cards for the narration, and the campaign sheet to track the progression of your survivors, players can go through Infected State, Washington Z.C.’s campaign. Have all politicians gone fully, really corrupt?
