The President is rather impressed with gold, so a gold-plated AK-47 seemed a natural gift from a visiting head-of-state to an American President. Who loves guns more than Americans, right? And that gift turned out pretty useful! The biggest problem with the zombie apocalypse has been a severe lack of amenities that the President is used to. No more private jets, no more limos, no more fast food. At least Twitter still works, so the President can keep his people well-informed about the BEST ways to take out zombies.
