    The siege of Wintergrad

Zombicide: White Death

Standalone game

Wintergrad, the Sun’s Gate. For centuries, this name carried an aura of prestige and wealth. And then, the zombies came.
These days, Wintergrad is a battlefield, a symbol of the war opposing the living and the dead. Khans, military leaders of the far East, and most of their armies are now zombies, led by the dreaded Defiler Necromancers. The monsters besiege the city to seize its riches and secrets. If they succeed, a dark sun will dawn on the horizon.
The remnants of several armies have joined forces and rallied in Wintergrad to form the last line of defense against the infected. Will you join them? Now is the time for bravery, for resistance, now is the time for…
Zombicide!

Play as a team as survivors in a fantasy city besieged by a zombie horde. Zombies are played by the game itself, using simple rules and a deck of cards. Once a quest has been set, the goal is simply to have fun completing the objectives, surviving and killing as many zombies as possible. Find weapons, kill zombies, and build up your survivors’ adrenaline to unlock their true potential. The more zombies you kill, the more of them are coming.

Lead your team to explore the besieged city of Wintergrad: rescue fellow survivors, protect vital areas, neutralize dire threats, command a small army of your own, and much, much more. Only through cooperation can players achieve victory!

White Death plays with rules from Zombicide, with dedicated features including a fortification system (ramparts, ropes and ladders, fiery cauldrons, etc.), polearms, a guard army to control, new zombie rules for movement, and a special Defiler Necromancer spreading corruption across the city, among others. Pick from the 6 survivors to build your team and break the siege of Wintergrad through 10 quests made using the modular map tiles.

Zombicide: White Death is a standalone game set in the Zombicide Fantasy world. It is fully compatible with Black Plague and Green Horde.

In this game, players are survivors from a siege laid by a zombie army. Ruins are everywhere yet the fortifications stand still… for now. Get your weapons, and rally the troops: the fate of Wintergrad is in your hands!

White Death retains the core Zombicide mechanics and introduces new ones:

  • Environment features: battlement walkways, exploring ruins, pouring cauldrons from the ramparts, using rope ladders, preventing corruption tendrils to reach vital areas, etc.
  • Wintergrad equipment: polearms, ice-themed spells and 8 brand new epic weapons to find, and turn against zombies!
  • Themed zombie mechanics: zombies go around, or through, or even fall from battlement walkways. Defiler Necromancers spread corruption on their path. Abominations and Necromancers drop epic weapons upon being defeated.
  • Streamlined game design: the tiles predefine places for Objective tokens, numbered spawn zones for easier spawn steps, revised targeting priority order, etc.
  • And much, much more!

Wintergrad used to be a gateway between cultures, and it shows with its heroic defenders!

White Death’s survivors come from different backgrounds and trades, each with their playstyle and skills (including new ones).

This box is also the first to introduce animal-themed survivors, with Lorna, a fox; and Ogon, a tiger. Choose the one suiting your taste and quest objectives!

White Death Mini Row 5

Representing Wintergrad’s remnant army, Guards are non-playing characters spread across the board at the start of the game. They can move, attack with their own weapons, and even pour cauldrons from the ramparts whenever a Survivor spends 1 Action to give them an order. A single guard may not compare to a full-fledged Survivor, but a squad of them is a real force to consider.

Each survivor has two skills at the start of the game. The first defines their playstyle. The second is a guard skill, providing guards under your command with temporary abilities and skills. Calling upon the guards at the right time and in the right way may prove crucial to win the game and repel the invasion.

NOTE: White Death feature Guard Skill cards, allowing survivors from other boxes to obtain guard skills.

WD Dashboard

Each survivor in White Death receives a themed plastic dashboard, to keep them organized.

A built-in sliding arrow tracks adrenaline gains, and trackers mark wounds and new skills.

Finally, multiple slots hold all your cards, making the inventory system intuitive and structured.

Each equipment card must be set in the dedicated dashboard slot to be used. Weapons are equipped in both hand slots, the armor is worn on the body, and the rest is set in the backpack for further use.

Thanks to their skills, survivors may prove more efficient with a specific weapon category (melee, ranged, or magic), but in the end, anyone can use any weapon.

Nobody knows for sure where the zombies come from, but the ones besieging Wintergrad once formed the armies of the Khans, the great warlords of the East. They were defeated and rose again, this time led by the foul Defiler Necromancers.

The zombie horde besieging Wintergrad is made of three major zombie types.

Walkers are the most common zombies, they are not the smartest or the strongest, yet they are legion. Don’t get overwhelmed!

Brutes are the shock troops of the zombie army. Due to their armor and mass, they simply shrug off most wounds. Keep your hardest-hitting weapon and do your best if you want to kill them!

Runners go twice as fast as other infected, hide among the horde to avoid fire, and chase their prey relentlessly. They are zombie hunters!

WD Mini Row 4

Khans used to be feared warlords of the East and led their armies to ruin under the corrupted influence of the Defiler Necromancers.

These once respected warriors are now zombie monsters infused with dark magic.

Weapons or walls, nothing can stop them on their murderous path. The only way to defeat a Khan is by striking one with ungodly strength, pouring a cauldron of fiery tar on them, or calling upon dragon fire.

WD Mini Row 3

Master schemers and adepts of a forbidden magic, Defiler Necromancers are part of an ancient conspiracy spreading the zombie corruption everywhere.

They guide the zombie horde towards the last beacons of hope, in an attempt to extinguish life itself and see a dark sun rise in the horizon!

White Death Survivors Mini Row
WD Mini Row 2

Zombicide: White Death comes with 83 detailed miniatures.

Survivors have detachable colored plastic bases to help identify them, matching the colors of their pegs on your survivor dashboard.

Zombie miniatures of the Brute, Runner, and Walker types come with variant sculpts to add diversity and depth to your game.

Survivor and Zombie miniatures from other Fantasy Zombicide boxes are compatible and may be used to play with this game.

White Death’s tiles may be arranged in a nearly infinite number of ways to create any setup fit for a besieged city, a ghost town, or a forgotten outpost in a winter atmosphere.

Beware! Buildings have endured severe damage and are now in ruins. They cannot be searched for valuable equipment but can still provide cover for Survivors and Zombies alike.

Some tiles feature battlement walkways, Wintergrad’s last line of defense against the besieging horde.

Battlement walkways can be climbed upon through stairs, offering extended line of sight for any ranged attack.

Zombies cannot cross them, except when a Zombie Siege card is drawn, allowing them to climb on the ramparts.

Khan Abominations, on the other hand, are strong enough to cross battlement walkways effortlessly.

And finally, the Defiler Necromancer’s corruption tokens crack breaches in the walls, opening the way to the zombie horde.

Keep your eyes open for these threats, and remember: zombies never tire!
