In ancient times the most powerful nobles would have many of their possessions buried with them to serve them in the afterlife. These included wives, husbands, servants, pets, and guards. The practice was eventually abandoned (thank goodness) and terracotta figures were used in their place. Some of the wealthier tombs employed golems as both servants in the afterlife and guards in the real world. But the zombie curse has further animated these lurching statues, and worse, linked them together. So long as one figure remains in the cohort, they’ll all re-form in mere minutes!
