Ney is twenty, plays for the national team, and has never been told no by anyone who wasn’t a referee. He changes his hair more often than his boots. He’d like you to know he can outrun anyone on the pitch and slip past defenders paid a fortune to stop him. That part, annoyingly, is true. He was at the boat party because the boat party was for him. Maracanã was supposed to host his next big match. He’ll still get there, and he’ll still be the fastest thing in the stadium, but the crowd won’t be chanting his name. He’s taking that harder than the zombies.
