Vivi has walked runways on three continents and has never once fallen off a pair of heels. Ten years of fittings gave her an eye for the one piece worth keeping from a rack of forty, and she scavenges the same way: one glance, one pick, the rest left behind. The boat party was meant to be a quiet night off before a shoot in Ipanema. She lost the shoot and most of her dress. She kept the pearls, and the captain’s machete suits her better than anything she ever wore on a catwalk. She still orders her cocktails two at a time but these days she lights them first.
