Rei Momo is one of the most iconic figures of Brazilian Carnival. A cheerful, larger-than-life character who symbolically receives the key to the city from the mayor at the start of Carnival festivities, becoming the “king” of the celebration. But after one party too many, he rose from the grave as a gigantic, bloated undead king. His tarnished crown sits crooked atop his head, his royal robes hang in tattered shreds, and he lurches through the streets surrounded by a macabre zombie parade.
